Traffic movie 20168/8/2023 ![]() The reason these emotions comes across as authentic is because an experienced cast employs masterful underplay. The emotions of the movie are honest and that's it's strength. The focus of Traffic remains constant on the characters and their situations. Thankfully the gimmicks are well thoughtout and don't make the movie particularly jarring. You can get that the writers have tried to spice things up, but perhaps the movie could've done better with just one less gimmick. Godbole is driving from Mumbai to Pune, but the number of obstacles he faces on his way, make his drive seem like a segment from the Dakar rally. The writing is a bit vanilla and makes things a bit too convenient. Traffic's narrative is a series of events that allow the characters to rise above the circumstances and be benevolent. Since this is Godbole's second chance at life and redemption, he becomes the advocate of second chances right through the film. Godbole's motivation is to sort out his reputation, since he's been recently involved in a case of bribery. That's where constable Godbole (Manoj Bajpayee) comes in. That sets the precedent for the thrills in the film. The only problem is, the authorities have to transport it by road over a 160 kms stretch in 2.5 hours. As fate would have it, the doctors incharge come up with the idea where the dying boy's heart can save the dying girl. In Mumbai, a young man and his best friend meet with an accident where the young journalist suffers a fatal head injury. A big actor's daughter is in a hospital, stuggling with her heart ailment, the only thing that can save her is a heart transplant. The incident has been adapted to the environs of Mumbai and Pune. It's a remake of a Malayalam movie by the same name, which in turn was inspired by an act of heroism that took place in Chennai circa 2008. It is a bit overtly idealistic, but it evokes the right kind of emotions. The film makes its play on sentimentality, forcing you to see the good side of people. It's a story about compassion, goodwill and the ability of human beings to act with courage under trying circumstances. Traffic, a drama thriller inspired by an actual 2008 incident that happened in Chennai is a racy film with the right heart. Some stories deserve an audience because they're inspirational and honest.
